We are pleased this year to sponsor a local based artist, Steven Geddes work for the forthcoming year. Through his eclectic work, Steven will have a phenomenal impact on the art market.

‘Steven Geddes is a ceramic artist who explores the realms of ceramics and the perceptions of touch, feel and surface design on quirky pieces. He has working on skulls for a period of 2 years inspired by a trip to Mexico and the way in which South America embraced their dead ancestors in an alien concept to the British culture. He has produced a range of skulls with this in mind; the flower girl was initially inspired by Frida Kahlo the use of the skull and the corsage of flowers. The macabre and the beautiful led to other skulls using more humorous couplings such as 1950's rubber bathing caps or goggles. Whilst he produces bowls as other artists, his whole concept is to the touch of these bowls. They are not by any definition finished without an enhanced surface to induce people to touch, feel and essentially fully interact with the piece’.

He has had a couple of his signatures pieces bought by a collector from the Tate and a couple of celebrities have also purchased his works. Recently Steven has attracted interest from the Wellcome Trust and also the RNIB for his highly collective work.
